PRODUCT MAJOR RELEASE HISTORY
ENERCALC has been supplying the “ENERCALC SEL” (Structural Engineering Library) to engineers and design professionals since 1982.
Build 20 was initially released in December 2021 and is our current product. It added 2 FEM-based modules (Steel Base Plate and Footing), ENERCALC 3D FEM, and 7 earth retention modules from our RetainPro software (now at end of life). In addition, licensing was changed to allow both installed and cloud usage with shared AWS-hosted project files. Our cloud platform went global and now offers local user instances in California, Ohio, Virginia, Tokyo, Sydney, Mumbai, and Frankfurt.
Build 12 was released in 2019 and included numerous UI and performance improvements.
Build 10 was released in the summer of 2017. 3D sketches were added in early 2018.
Build 6 was a complete rewrite of the product for Microsoft Windows using the substantial availability of newer programming systems. It was released in January of 2008.
Build 5 provided a rewritten Microsoft Windows program for the user interface. The prior “C” Language engineering code was retained and improved over the 9 year run of the product. NOTE: 5.x and all prior versions are no longer supported nor available.
Build 4 provided a rewritten product where the user interface was a DOS program which simulated a spreadsheet. The engineering programs were rewritten in the “C” programming language because the calculation capabilities of a spreadsheet were too limited (and indeed today a spreadsheet is no match for compiled, purpose-built code).
Builds 1, 2 & 3 were Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet templates. We were the first engineering software company to offer a set of spreadsheet templates as a retail software product.
