How can we force all installations to use the "Automatic Activation/Deactivation" option to maximize free seats and minimize IT questions?

 

The file named EC_SEL.ECLIC is typically located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\ENERCALC Common Data Files.  It is a comma-delimited string of values related to activation.

 

To force a computer to use Automatic activation and deactivation, use a value of 4 in the third position in the string.

 

To force a computer to use Indefinite activation, use a value of 1 in the third position in the string.

 

Users who want to set many installations to Automatic also commonly want to remove the option for users to change that setting within the individual installations.  To hide the option to change the activation type on the software, create the following registry key in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ENERCALC\V20\License:
