# Moving ENERCALC SEL to a Different Computer

How to move ENERCALC SEL and its data files to a different computer.

### How can I move my ENERCALC SEL to a different computer?

Follow these simple steps:

1. Internet Deactivate ENERCALC SEL on your current computer.
2. Uninstall ENERCALC SEL from your current computer.
3. Locate ENERCALC data files that you want to move to the new installation and back them up to a portable memory device. These could include:

* *Project Files*: File extension is “EC6”. Default location is C:\Users\\\[username]`\Documents\ENERCALC Data Files.`
* *Custom section data files*: If you have any custom section data files, they are typically stored in `C:\Users\Public\Documents\ENERCALC Common Data Files`, and they will have the extension "TPS" and will include *USR* in the file name, such as EC6\_STL\_USR\_W\.TPS.
* *User defined load combinations*: If you have any user defined load combinations, you will want to copy and move the file named LoadComb.tps, which is typically saved in C:\Users\\\[username]`\Documents\ENERCALC Data Files\.`

1. Locate your Product Control Code. IMPORTANT!!!: Use the most recent one that was sent to you, as this establishes the Allowed Version that you will have access to, and the features and functions that will be available.
2. Download the installer: <https://install.enercalc.com/ECSEL20_SETUP.EXE>
3. Run the installer on your new computer (pasting in the latest PCC in the process).
4. Launch the installed software and use “Internet Activate”.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://enercalc.com/docs/sel-faq/setup-and-licensing/installation/moving-my-software-to-a-differ.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
