# Projects Tab

The Projects tab, where you create, open, clone, import and export projects, and manage the project list.

The **Projects** tab lists the projects available to you and is where you create, open and manage them.

Working left to right across the toolbar, then down into the table:

1. **Create Project** starts a new, empty project.
2. **Open Project** opens the project selected in the table.
3. **Clone Project** copies the selected project, so you can reuse its divisions and calculations as the starting point for new work.
4. The **import** icon brings a project in from a `json` or `ec6` file.
5. The **export** icon writes the selected project out to a `json` file.
6. The **⋮** menu beside the export icon holds additional actions like: refresh the project table, and import the default ENERCALC project.
7. The **Search** box filters the table by project name, and **Show Inactive** reveals projects that have been removed from the list.
8. **Remove Project from List** takes the selected project off the list. Use **Show Inactive** to bring it back into view.
9. Selecting a **column heading** sorts the table by that column.
10. The **⋮** menu at the end of each project row acts on that one project: **Open**, **Rename**, **Clone**, **Export Project**, or **Remove Project from List**.
11. The controls in the bottom right move between pages of the project table.

**NOTE:** A project's badge shows whether it is **ACTIVE**. The table also records who created each project and when.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://enercalc.com/docs/onboarding/program-overview/interface-navigation/project-assistant.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
