# Sign Up

How to create your official ENERCALC account.

Sign-up uses the same workflow whether you start from the web version at <https://enercalc.app/> or the installed app.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Start sign-up

On the installed app's landing page, select **Sign Up**. In the web version, or on the **Sign in** screen, select **Sign up** beside **Don't have an account?**.

If someone in your organization has invited you, you will instead receive an invitation email from `no-reply@enercalc.com`. It names the organization you have been invited to join. Select **Open ENERCALC** to set up your account.

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** An invitation expires after 7 days. If you were not expecting it, you can safely ignore the email.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enter your details

On the **Sign up** screen, enter your **First name**, **Last name** and **Email**, then select **Continue**.

<figure><img src="https://3955293234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fo0Hz1rmQ42N26pw3zzDH%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-464f4872adfb863ef55d4aa0173bf32e585dff1d%2Finstall-account-sign-up-1.png?alt=media" alt="The Sign up screen with First name, Last name and Email fields, a Continue button, and a Sign in link for anyone who already has an account"><figcaption><p>Entering your details</p></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create a password

Enter a password in **Password**, then select **Continue**. It must be at least 10 characters, and a checklist beside the field shows when it meets that rule.

<figure><img src="https://3955293234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fo0Hz1rmQ42N26pw3zzDH%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-787761fe4682d1d84904129a0071ae407a5b8db4%2Finstall-account-sign-up-2.png?alt=media" alt="The Sign up screen with the email filled in, a Create a password field showing the At least 10 characters rule, a Continue button, and a Continue with email code button below an OR divider"><figcaption><p>Creating a password</p></figcaption></figure>

If you would rather not set a password, select **Continue with email code** instead, and ENERCALC sends a code to your email address. You can also select **Change email** to correct the address, or **Change method** to choose a different method.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Finish

Once sign-up is complete, ENERCALC opens on the **Projects** tab, the same place you land after signing in.

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** If you do not belong to an organization yet, you will first land on **Welcome to ENERCALC**, where you can set one up or check for invitations. See [Creating or Joining an Organization](/docs/installation-activation/account/creating-or-joining-an-organization.md).
{% endhint %}

{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://enercalc.com/docs/installation-activation/account/sign-up.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
